Preview helps SJ Berwin set up Virtual Data Room

SJ Berwin is one of the leading law firms in Europe, handling a large number of mergers and acquisitions. In May 2004 Berwins was asked to set up a virtual data room for a client in readiness to go live from the beginning of June 2004 – a lead time of less than two weeks!

Preview was approached to help with the task. Berwins had used other suppliers to set up data rooms in the past but only Preview were able to offer the complete virtual service.

SJ Berwin was one of the pioneering firms to introduce the concept of virtual deeds repositories a couple of years ago. Initially, it found it difficult to convince lawyers that a virtual data room is a reliable and cost effective solution to a necessary process. However, once Terry’s team had proven the concept, lawyers loved it.

“We first met Preview at the Legal IT exhibition held in Olympia, London earlier in the year and held its information on file,” said Lawley. “When Project Magnum was conceived, we approached a number of companies including Preview. Preview was by far the easiest company to deal with, the most cost effective and speed of service was excellent,” Lawley went on. “The contract with Preview was signed within a couple of days.”

“We will certainly be working with Preview again on a range of different projects. Preview also offers litigation support and scan on demand services which may be of interest in the future.”
