Electronic Discovery - eDiscovery+

Preview’s eDiscovery+ service has been developed to assist litigation support specialists solve the increasingly common problem of how to deal with evidence that exists primarily in electronic format – emails, Word documents and so on.

eDiscovery+ is a combination of bespoke software tools and expertise which, in the hands of Preview’s e-discovery specialists, can rapidly reduce many gigabytes of source data into an indexed Disclosure List for presentation in court.

The eDiscovery+ process will:

• Extract source files from mass storage devices into their native formats such as Word, Excel, Outlook and so on. Conventionally scanned & coded paper documents can be included as needed
• Extract and cross-reference email attachments and eliminate duplicates
• Classify source documents by type and by metadata such as author, sender, recipient, date created, etc
• Normalise metadata by time (12 or 24 clock) name (e.g. J. Bloggs, Joe, Joseph Bloggs) and so on
• Create a ‘first pass’ database of candidate documents from which relevant documents will be extracted to form a candidate Discovery List
• Define and subsequently refine search terms and exclusions, e.g. ‘hyde’ + ‘hotel’ but not ‘hyde park hotel’. This is typically an iterative process involving 3 or 4 passes, with search feedback provided to client at each pass
• Selected relevant documents are indexed and converted to searchable PDF format or Bate stamped TIFF image
• The final Discovery List can be printed as a case bundle and/or delivered on CD or DVD or as an upload file to popular litigation support applications
